All Saints Church

Armitage is one of the few North West Companies approved by English Heritage and the National Trust to work on their projects. The work at All Saints created its own natural obstacles. Access was a major problem as all the materials on the contract had to be taken via the Lych-gate and pathway, both of which were only two metres wide. The main services and drainage also had to be laid beneath the path causing further disruption to site access. The construction project itself covered the extensive refurbishment of the existing building and the development of a 140m2 extension which incorporated a new entrance hall, meeting room, office, toilets kitchen and a flower assembly room. Stonework surrounding arched doorways, window surrounds and buttress corners was replaced as well as a stone seating area created which was fixed to the outside wall of the Vestry.
